Marina Brbot

Who Is Marina Brbot….

Marina Brbot is an award winning photographer and author of Australia’s very own inspirational coffee table book Because She Can.

Marina made it her mission to give women a voice and a platform through her creative vision, her images and by putting them under the cover of one book. Her approach to life has become direct, and creative.

The women in her book not only believed in a cause and chose to practice their values but also contribute to the world in a positive way. She wanted to give them a voice. Marina took their photos and listened to their stories and thus her book was born.

Martha Lord

BIO

Martha Lord is a Melbourne based artist and designer who has been exhibiting over the past two decades.  Her work is a play between abstraction and realism, where connections with mythology emerge.  It allows for a dream, a reality or a paradoxical combination of both.

“My work sits somewhere between reality and the idea.  Between the complex and simple.  Between history and modernity.  Our mark making can represent the deepest levels of the human psyche.  It is not only an expression of something that is very personal and intimate but an intellectual and emotional exploration.”

Kew East

An inspired landscape design

Beginning with a blank canvas, the design was carefully planned to work in harmony with the adjacent parklands and take full advantage of the park views. The home’s outdoor areas are as finely appointed as the interiors, with a poolside patio and lounge areas adding to the relaxed sense of luxury.

South Melbourne

A Landmark Project for South Melbourne

A landmark project for South Melbourne, with the integration of a heritage building (the former ANZ bank) and the creation of a new office building sitting respectfully behind.

As well as providing much needed new office space in the area, one of the key design intents of this project is to reactivate the Clarendon Street/Bank Street precinct, bring day time activity to the area from people working in and visiting the building. Creating increased foot traffic and trade to local business.

The project is currently under construction.

Collingwood

New life for a Collingwood classic

In the mid-1800s, Collingwood was a place of industry. This was a lively hub by the start of the 20th century, before sliding back into poverty during the 1930s, and later becoming home to successive waves migrants up to the 1970s. It is one of the oldest suburbs in Melbourne, and today is one of its most coveted places to live and work close to the CBD.

Carlton North

Part of the neighbourhood

This is a beautiful property located in Rathdowne Village, tucked away between Nicholson and Lygon Street in North Carlton, and home to numerous cafés, restaurants, and shops to explore.

A two level retail property that was taken on and refurbished, creating a striking retail space for high end fashion stores to represent their businesses on the ground floor, with a personal training gym on the upper level.

Hawthorn East

Contemporary offices. Coveted location.

This property previously comprised a two-part older style office building of approximately 812sqm positioned on an irregular shaped allotment of approximately 1,132sqm. The site was redeveloped, into a three-level A-grade office building, completed in 2009.

The building has been constructed across the whole site, including two basement car parks, providing for 68 cars.

Footscray

A grand address in the heart of Footscray

This project features a beautiful Victorian-style building, circa 1888, which has been refurbished while retaining its original façade.

This classical commercial building has been transformed to create cutting-edge residential spaces right in the centre of Footscray’s vibrant retail and café scene. These spaces include elegant an open-plan kitchen, stylish bathroom and generous balcony that complements studio-style and apartment living. Other modern features include reverse cycle heating and cooling, and a security entrance.

The building features the traditional high ceilings of a building from this era which allows for the creation of unique boutique style apartments with a light, airy and roomy feel. The residences are fitted with European appliances, beautiful carpets, matching floor tiles and high quality finishes.

The apartments are in the heart of Footscray, just a short walk to Victoria University and the train station.

South Yarra

Modern offices at the Paris-End

An impressive project is located in what is now referred to as the ‘Paris End’ of Chapel Street. This wasn’t always the case. In the suburb’s early years, this area was renowned for the rag trade. The original premises was a 1960’s brown brick factory style building and was home to a clothing manufacturing business.

The original building only occupied part of the L-shaped site. This development incorporated gutting the original building and then building on top of it, extending across the entire site, and creating a three-level modern building with large balconies, providing an outdoor oasis for the occupants.

Carlton

A cornerstone of Carlton

This superb project boasts a high-profile city fringe location, with two large street frontages and a large land area. The property was purpose-built for the ANZ bank, which had vacated as part of the its downsizing program. The property was bought vacant possession in a very dilapidated state. The entire upper levels had been totally disconnected from the ground floor, with the original grand staircase removed by the bank for security. This made it an especially interesting purchase, as there was no access to inspect the two levels above the ground floor.

Once restored, the interiors were nothing less than stunning with extremely high ceilings, over 14-feet, large ornate cornices and beautiful ceiling centres. There was even an internal galley lift between floors.
